Goa Trance vs. PsyTrance

Artist: Cosmosis

So, here's a prime example of one artist's transformation from Goa legend to Psytrance producer. The artist is Cosmosis.

Made this for all who would like to further increase the ability to determine Goa from Psy. Also, to show how the Goa scene is slowly dying.

What you hear now is one of Cosmosis' Goa tracks from 1995, 'Dans Ta Figure.' It is regarded as a Goa classic along with the rest of the 'Cannabanoid' EP.

This is Goa.

Fast forward to Cosmosis' latest 2007 release, 'Psychedelica Melodica,' and you'll quickly notice a steep difference. Here is one track, 'Metaphysical Worlds.'

This is Psytrance.

It's a shame. But not /bad/. It is quality, but just not Goa anymore.

Goa = Organic
Psy = Metallic/Sharp

One member, Jeremy Van Kampen, left Cosmosis and kept the 'Laughing Buddha' moniker. His releases are more Goa influenced. But still lean toward Psytrance.

Keep Goa alive.
